A DEAD BATTERY CAN'T JUMP A DEAD BATTERY

I have one goal: to inspire and energize audiences to achieve beyond their expectations by tapping into their power and winning at work and life. Okay, well, that was two goals. Drawing from deeply personal experiences through my career as the first Black woman to ... (fill in the blank), and through life --becoming stronger and more resilient through every challenge and emerging victorious with each battle, including fighting and winning my war against cancer, I am living proof that you can change your world to create the life you want. With wit and humor, I tackle issues such as Imposter Syndrome, Fear, and a Saner Way to Climb (the corporate ladder), as well as topics related to my 33+ year career in corporate America, including change management, marketing, leadership communication, crisis and issues management, and more. I am an open book and an authentic voice on equity and justice, DE&I, The Black Experience, and so much more. Speaking of books, don't forget to check out my new best-selling book: You are Enough! Reclaiming Your Career and Your Life with Purpose, Passion and Unapologetic Authenticity, available where all books are sold, including Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Although my story is uniquely me, it is everyone's story -- regardless of gender, ethnicity, or circumstance -- my story and the lessons from it resonate. More than anything, I believe that it's choice, not chance, that changes your life, and it all starts with 7 Seconds of Courage and One. Deep. Breath.

Attendees of my keynote walk away with unabashed empowerment, enthusiasm, and inspiration. All sessions are customized to the audience as appropriate. Previous audiences for the keynote include everyone and anyone needing hope, inspiration, and strategies for thriving at work and home!

“Every syllable of this talk rang of truth earned many times over…one of our participants blurted out that this virtual session was ‘like church,’ and immediately people piled on to upvote that statement.”
David Murray, executive director, Professional Speechwriters Association, and author of An Effort to Understand: Hearing One Another (and Ourselves) in a Nation Cracked in Half.

TESTIMONIALS

"Charlene did an amazing job discussing systemic racism and issues regarding DE&I in the workforce. There were many key takeaways from this podcast. I really enjoyed the passion and conviction in her voice when speaking on these issues. She kept it professional throughout and yet it made a lasting impact on me. I really appreciated her sharing her personal experiences about being an African American woman in the United States. I truly believe that understanding the lived experiences of other people is the first step in generating positive change. She shared a quote that really struck me, she said, "one of my biggest challenges was learning how to be a black girl in the United States." She continued to discuss that throughout her life there will come many points where she thinks she has overcome the racial barrier, but then something will happen to remind her that she hasn't. I thought this statement was very powerful."

"Charlene gave great insight on the status quo and action plans for sustaining the commitment of diversity and inclusion. I liked how she included tangible, realistic solutions for making systemic changes within institutions such as workplaces. At the local level, she stresses that the conversation needs to continue. I loved all of her key points. As a Black woman in the PR industry, I truly appreciated this podcast."

"I am passionate about growing leaders and seeing leadership that leaves a mark in the lives of people. I was moved by your story and at the same time, challenged by your leadership. Leading in this season has challenged our work culture and relational capacity. I feel my team would really benefit from you about leading through adversity."

"I was intrigued by your talk. I loved the way you handled the topic of adversity. I can honestly say; I don't think anyone saw you coming from that angle. However, it was relevant, powerful, true, and needed to be said. The 'Human' element has been missing from the workforce culture, and it will take individuals -like yourself- to become so embolden to address it."

"Your talk was very meaningful to me. I’m a single mother and I related to you as a mom, as a writer, and as a woman in Corporate America. I’m still processing all you had to say, Charlene. Some of your lessons learned were a timely reminder. Some of what you had to say gave me a whole new perspective on Diversity, growth, and overcoming difficulty with passion and perseverance. I’m inspired."
